Arnau’) Eusebi Arnau i Mascort (1863-1933) Born in 1863 in Barcelona, Eusebi Arnau i Mascort studied at the local l’Escola de Belles Arts. Study trips to Paris, Brussels, Florence, and Rome followed. Initially he worked for Masriera as medallist in his hometown, simultaneously he developed his skills in the field of sculpture. The collaboration with the architect Lluís domènech i Montaner followed at the initiative of reviving old artworks. This revival is considered as important starting point of the Catalan arte modernista. Influenced by the French sculpture, Arnau I Mascort enjoyed reputation as a decorative architectural sculptor. And so he is involved in, major architectural projects of his time such as the House Lleó Morera (1903-05), at Palazzo de la Música Catalana (1907), or at the Hospital de Santa Cruz y St Pablo, Fonda España (all with Domènech i Montaner). Numerous works of Arnau i Mascort can be found in museum collections in Barcelona and Madrid
